Yup... the small bathroom is nothing but 2x4s and plumbing.
In tearing out the tile on the walls around the bathtub, I discovered that a poorly covered former soap dish recess (patched with a 12x12 vinyl tile) had leaked and the studs behind it were covered in a icky black mess of mold. UGH! Also, there wasn't any cement board to be found... only regular old (and soggy) sheetrock.
Soooooo... it's goodbye to the idea of saving the sheetrock. We'll start anew and be confident that the job will be done right.
Also, refinishing the tub will cost more than the tub is worth, so we're on the lookout for a nice light blue tub/sink/commode combo. Used is my preference (less $$) but we might wind up ordering new stuff.
Also, the cool rubber flooring that Haley found needs to be installed on top of plywood, so I'll be putting new subfloor in soon. Time marches on......
On the plus side, we had a couple 90-degree days in a row and the pool is crystal clear and great fun! It's going to be a great summer!!
